Entrepreneurial Blog – Week 1: Starting the Journey
This week’s introduction to BUS 110: Introduction to Entrepreneurship really made me stop and think—not just about business, but about my life as a whole. The idea that this course is more about becoming than just doing really stuck with me. It’s not just about learning how to start a company; it’s about figuring out who I am, what I want, and how I can build a life that reflects those things.
One of the main ideas that stood out to me was from The Startup of You. I really liked how it compared our personal lives to a startup. That concept made entrepreneurship feel more personal and less intimidating. It helped me realize that I don’t need to wait to have a business idea to think like an entrepreneur—I can start building the habits and mindset now. I also appreciated the emphasis on adaptability and being proactive. In today’s world, being able to pivot and adjust as things change feels more important than ever.
The readings and videos also focused a lot on the "why" behind entrepreneurship. In Living Life as an Entrepreneurial Hero, I was inspired by the idea that we can find purpose through creating value and solving problems. That really connected with my personal desire to do something meaningful, not just profitable. Elder Uchtdorf’s message about offering our “whole souls” reminded me that true success comes when we align our work with our deeper values and faith.
Watching the Do What You Love video made me reflect on what actually brings me joy and how that could guide my future business path. I want to be someone who builds a life and career I’m proud of—something that has a positive impact on my family and community.
Overall, this week opened my eyes to the fact that entrepreneurship isn’t just a career path—it’s a way of thinking and living. I’m looking forward to digging deeper into these concepts and learning how to turn ideas into action. More than anything, I’m excited to figure out what kind of entrepreneur I want to be and what kind of life I want to build.
